One of the first craft beer bars in Porto with one of the largest selections of Portuguese and foreign beers. Bia and Ricardo Queiros have given beer lovers a place of worship. “Catraio” slang for child was picked since the owners worked in the wine industry and they were kids in this world of beer, but they have quickly gained experience. The bar opened in Jan 2015.

The Bar is very cleanly designed with a sitting area in the back and an outside area for smokers. They have 25 different Portuguese beers, 22 foreign, which totals around 47, with a constantly expanding menu. They also have 8-12 different beers on tap which change weekly. It’s a great place to taste all the craft beers Portugal has to offer.

If you had to try 5 Portuguese beers before you die, these would be a must, drink them in order:Lindinha Lucas (Czech Pilsner), D’osDiabos (weizen), OPO 74-Red Mosquito (American Amber Ale), Burguesa (Belgian Dubbel),Post Scriptum (Imperial Stout).

As a beer lover and enthusiast, I found this place was a breath of fresh CO2, as one of the posters suggests “life is too short to drink cheap beer”. Portuguese beer culture has always revolved around cheap commercial beer since, culturally and traditionally, this is wine country. Over the last couple of years Portuguese craft beers have been emerging and finally there is a stage in Porto where they can truly be appreciated.
